Word of the day - Skyline

This is the city of Melbourne from 2015.  The balloon in the foreground nearly had a swim.  This particular view has changed a lot in the intervening time.

Last year Penny and I were on the hunt for the word remote.  This was taken on the Silver City highway half way between Mildura and Broken Hill...  It is fairly remote out that way.

Scavenger hunt day 10 - Light Trails

The last day.  After today we get winners albums.  This time around there has been a diverse range of works from all comers.  This is what I came up with for Light Trails.  This is Melbourne's Eastern freeway just before the Mullum Mullum tunnel and Eastlink.  I learnt a new feature of my camera to take this and it is one continuous shot.

Today's word is spiral and my mind immediately went to the slinky toy.  You can still buy them.  I guess a classic never goes out of style.

On this day - 22nd of February

In 2015 I took a picture of the love locks on the Evan Walker bridge.  They were there until the government got involved.  Personally I think the government needs to leave love to the people and if an individual wants to express their undying love for another then they should be allowed to do it. 

Apparently the weight of the locks was making the bridge unsafe.  I am calling BS on that one.  I have seen 1000 people on that bridge.  It is not falling down any time soon.

Frozen in time

For the word frozen I had the idea to do an image similar to this one that I took in 2016.  The idea was to have someone stand still in a very busy public place and have echos of the crowd flow around the person.  This was taken at 4 am during white night here in Melbourne.

For time I felt that people would be doing clocks and perhaps candles.  I took the long view.  Geological time as shown in the sandstone layered down over eons at the 12 Apostles on the south west coast of Victoria.

Rain

Walking from the station yesterday morning I spotted this couple just standing under an umbrella in the rain.  I am not sure what they were doing but as I walked past I thought that I might be able to get a good picture of them with the city waking up behind them.  I asked if I could take their photo and they agreed.

What I forgot was to get their details to send the photo to them.  I am sure they would be happy with this :)

Scavenger hunt day 5 - Steps

This is at a place called Natural Bridge in the Budj Bim world heritage area. The steps go into an old lava tube and come out on the other side. Excellent place to visit. They had bushfire here earlier this year which exposed additional artefacts from indigenous settlement dating back 6000 thousand years. Homelessness in a big city is everywhere and in your face.  This was out the front of Starbucks in Elizabeth street Melbourne.  Surely there is something that can be done to help these lost souls.

Scavenger hunt day 4 - Row

For day 4 we have the word Row.  I saw this plantation of eucalyptus trees while out in the western districts last year and just knew that I had the word.  It is possible that this row of trees is no longer there as this was in an area where they had bushfires earlier this year.

last year I was mulling over how on earth I was ever going to get through this list of words used in Hunt 25.  It was the same list as used in the first hunt.  It was difficult and awesome at the same time

Scavenger hunt day 3 - Touch

Day 3 of reveals and the word is touch.  I went with the hand of God in the creation of Adam.  The hands are actually Penny (God) and Me (Adam) and this was totally created in Affinity Photo.  It turns out it is difficult to photograph hands when you can't see the viewfinder.

Back in 2011 Penny and I went on a hot air balloon ride across the Yarra valley east of Melbourne.   This was taken at about 2000 feet looking towards the Melbourne CBD.  This was all kinds of awesome.
