Word of the day - Skyline

This is the city of Melbourne from 2015.  The balloon in the foreground nearly had a swim.  This particular view has changed a lot in the intervening time.

On this day - 29th of February

Apparently I have no photos on the 29th so I have gone with a fact from History

1692 First people are accused of witchcraft in Salem, Massachusetts - Sarah Good, Sarah Osborne and Tituba, a West Indian slave.

Perfect morning

Pre dawn over the MCG and Melbourne park

Admiring the view

Practising the rule of thirds from the Spencer street bridge with a little bokeh

in  2019 it was all about jellybean.  This was taken for scavenger hunt 25 and I had so many words to find that I was desperate.  Included here is the raw shot showing how I achieved the background

Tuesday, February 25, 2020

For those of you playing along with the 12 Photo Assignments of 2020.  There is still time to post your "Shadow" images.  here is a reminder that next months theme is sand.  Pictures due from the 25th of March onwards.

This was taken at Perry sand hills on the back road to Renmark.

On this day - 25th of February

Last year Penny and I were on the hunt for the word remote.  This was taken on the Silver City highway half way between Mildura and Broken Hill...  It is fairly remote out that way.

Scavenger hunt day 10 - Light Trails

The last day.  After today we get winners albums.  This time around there has been a diverse range of works from all comers.  This is what I came up with for Light Trails.  This is Melbourne's Eastern freeway just before the Mullum Mullum tunnel and Eastlink.  I learnt a new feature of my camera to take this and it is one continuous shot.

Don't forget to go to the link and see other peoples works...

On this day - 24th of February

Last year Penny and I were out road tripping and on out travels we stopped at Sheep hills to admire the magnificent silo art.

12PAof2020 February - Shadows

Shadows are as much about the dark as they are about light...  I have been chasing shadows since the start of the year.  This is my favourite

Scavenger hunt day 9 - Lavender

For this word I was recreating a scene I first saw in the movie Gladiator. I think they used wheat. Mine is more colourful :)

Only one more word to reveal.  This next word will be epic.  In the mean time link through and have a look at all the excellent submissions for Lavender

On this day - 23rd of February

Last year we had a chest of drawers returned to us.  One of the drawers had this sign on it...

Scavenger hunt day 8 - Spiral

Today's word is spiral and my mind immediately went to the slinky toy.  You can still buy them.  I guess a classic never goes out of style.

Don't forget to follow the scavenger link to see what everyone else came up with...

On this day - 22nd of February

In 2015 I took a picture of the love locks on the Evan Walker bridge.  They were there until the government got involved.  Personally I think the government needs to leave love to the people and if an individual wants to express their undying love for another then they should be allowed to do it.

Apparently the weight of the locks was making the bridge unsafe.  I am calling BS on that one.  I have seen 1000 people on that bridge.  It is not falling down any time soon.

Frozen in time

For the word frozen I had the idea to do an image similar to this one that I took in 2016.  The idea was to have someone stand still in a very busy public place and have echos of the crowd flow around the person.  This was taken at 4 am during white night here in Melbourne.

Scavenger hunt day 7 - Time

For time I felt that people would be doing clocks and perhaps candles.  I took the long view.  Geological time as shown in the sandstone layered down over eons at the 12 Apostles on the south west coast of Victoria.

Don't forget to visit the full time album and share the vision that is time here

On this day - 21st of February

in 2016 Penny and I attended the joy that was "White Night"

Death ray over the MCG

This was the scen this morning from Gosch's paddock in Richmond.  It reminds me of the martians from war of the worlds...

It was begging for the cinematic treatment

Walking from the station yesterday morning I spotted this couple just standing under an umbrella in the rain.  I am not sure what they were doing but as I walked past I thought that I might be able to get a good picture of them with the city waking up behind them.  I asked if I could take their photo and they agreed.

What I forgot was to get their details to send the photo to them.  I am sure they would be happy with this :)

Oh and it also works for Rule of thirds Julianne

Scavenger hunt day 6 - Jam

Day six of reveals and todays word is hunt.
This is my interpretation.
Don't forget to look at all the other great submissions here

On this day - 20th of February

in 2018 I was chasing bokeh and failing.  But I did get this bench seat down on the Yarra near Sandridge rail bridge

Scavenger hunt day 5 - Steps

This is at a place called Natural Bridge in the Budj Bim world heritage area. The steps go into an old lava tube and come out on the other side. Excellent place to visit. They had bushfire here earlier this year which exposed additional artefacts from indigenous settlement dating back 6000 thousand years. Older than the pyramids.  Visit the full album here and share the love

On this day - 19th of February

in 2019 I was hunting words in Scavenger hunt 25.  I got the letter Z just like that...

The great divide

Homelessness in a big city is everywhere and in your face.  This was out the front of Starbucks in Elizabeth street Melbourne.  Surely there is something that can be done to help these lost souls.

This is another in my cinematic series

The feather

While walking to work this morning I watched this feather gently drop to the ground...  This is how I found it...  Nice still life

Perfect day

For those that don't live in Melbourne...  Yesterday was an absolutely perfect day that started for me like this :)

Scavenger hunt day 4 - Row

For day 4 we have the word Row.  I saw this plantation of eucalyptus trees while out in the western districts last year and just knew that I had the word.  It is possible that this row of trees is no longer there as this was in an area where they had bushfires earlier this year.
If you would like to view the full album visit this link and share the love

On this day - 18th of February

last year I was mulling over how on earth I was ever going to get through this list of words used in Hunt 25.  It was the same list as used in the first hunt.  It was difficult and awesome at the same time

No Aphrodisiac

This is my take on the classic by the Whitlams

Scavenger hunt day 3 - Touch

Day 3 of reveals and the word is touch.  I went with the hand of God in the creation of Adam.  The hands are actually Penny (God) and Me (Adam) and this was totally created in Affinity Photo.  It turns out it is difficult to photograph hands when you can't see the viewfinder.

The full reveal album can be found here don't hesitate to go and see how others interpreted the theme

On this day - 17th of February

All I have is a red rose from 2015.  This one is actually on my wall.

When your strange

Here is some music I had fun with this morning

Scavenger hunt 27 day 2 - Frozen

The word for today is Frozen...  For this word I found it difficult to find anything frozen here in Melbourne during a hot dry summer in the end I simply let it go.  You will find all ot the entries for this word here... Feel free to go and share the love.  There are some excellent images in there...

On this day - 16th of February

in 2018 I was a little left of centre

Up up and away

Back in 2011 Penny and I went on a hot air balloon ride across the Yarra valley east of Melbourne.   This was taken at about 2000 feet looking towards the Melbourne CBD.  This was all kinds of awesome.

Scavenger hunt 27 - Car

It is time for reveals on scavenger hunt 27.  The first word out of the blocks is car...

Here is what I came up with...  A deconstructed car

The full album can be found here Click through and share the fun

The tradies

Fuelling up for a big day on site

On this day - 15th of February

In 2018 it was all about the sky and hot air balloons

Dawn jogger

A jogger crosses the Morell bridge at dawn

Admiring the shoes

into the light of a fancy shoe shop earlier in the week.  I really love the reflections after rain.  Mind you we had enough to wet the ground while those on the Pacific coast here in Oz have been copping very heavy falls.

This is another in my cinematic series

On this day - 14th of February

In 2018 I was on Southbank probably on the way to the salt mines.  Apparently I only had a mobile phone with me and snapped this

Racing to work

The cyclists on the way to work are riding so hard that you would think they were in the final sprint of the Tour de France

On this day - 13th of February

In 2018 I was on the way to work and snapped this summer morning image of Melbourne from Southbank.

Everyday I walk past this location and I have to take a photo.  I just love how green it is...

On this day - 12th of February

in 2017 Penny and I visited Charles who really loves the view from the top of his apartment building..  Thanks for the chromecast and the view Charles
