Window bears

This time last year there was a thing around Melbourne where you put a bear in a window so that passing children can have something to look for on their one hour of lockdown exercise.  This was from my WFH office.

Cash is king

Early this year I decided that I would not spend any $5 note that I received.  Here we are coming up to the end of March and the tally is just over $600.  We are going to have a good holiday at the end of the year :)

Indigo shire

Beechworth in Indigo shire is one of our favourite places for a weekend away

Wisteria

Wisteria at Montsalvat artists colony here in Melbourne

Tug of war

This photo was one of a series that I took for the theme "Hang in there" on this day in 2015.  I didn't use this image and the selective colour treatment was done today.

The birds

It is easy to get pictures of gulls.  Simply have hot chips at the beach and wait.

What's up doc

It seems that back in 2018 I was impersonating a rabbit with pink fluffy ears

Rainbow lemon

Back when I was getting to grips with Photoshop I created this.

Rural scene

Back in 2017 we were visiting Benalla.  This was somewhere near Goorambat

Eggs

Back in 2016 it was all about eggs.  There is an unhappy one in the bunch...  Probably aware he is about to become breakfast.

Bedroom rockstar

He certainly has the look.  This was taken as a publicity still for a movie that I worked on back in 2017.  Pictured is Guillym Davenport (actor) noodling on a Rickenbacker that was used as a prop

10/10/100

The challenge.  10 photos, in 10 minutes, within 100 metres.  Here is what I came up with.

Handmade

Degraves street Melbourne, late last year.

Ladybug

Back in 2015 I was looking for a ladybird for the scavenger hunt and found a lady bug instead.  This was really good Photoshop practice.  I have included the original VW image along with where I sourced the ladybug logo.  As a bonus I found a blue bird as well.

Shadows from the past

Light streaming through the windows of the fumigation room at Point Nepean immigration museum.  This is how they used to do quarantine.  They fumigated their luggage and forced them to stay in a semi remote location until they were deemed safe to enter the country.  It seems much more sensible than filing incoming travellers in hotels in the centre of major population centres.  The surroundings are not unpleasant.

Patterns

Back in 2016 we visited Ikea to find interesting patterns to use for backgrounds.  This was not used at the time looking at it this morning it translates quite well to monochrome

Next 240 km

Dawn is breaking

Green

Green screen.  I have been working on a logo for TTWL and needed a line drawing of a lamp.  I used this to create one from scratch.

The red coats

Back in 2018 I was looking for an image to use for "vintage" in the scavenger hunt and on a visit to Sovereign hill in Ballarat I snapped the red coats on patrol.

Confined

The inside of a flying boat at the Lake Boga flying boat museum.  Conditions could best be described as cramped.  Lake Boga was used as an inland base for these aircraft during World War 2.  This day in 2017

Sheep

Back in 2017 we were travelling through the western districts of Victoria when the road was blocked by a mob of sheep.  This is quite common in rural Australia.

Plastic

Capable of being molded or modelled.  This fits the description

Standing room only

On this day last year was the last day that I saw a train that was standing room only and no masks.  The very next day we had panic buying here in Melbourne as we were about to go into the first lockdown.  My how the world has changed in a year.

Moon

In 2014 I was practising my skills at taking pictures of the moon.  I determined to really get a good image that I needed a bigger lens.  This came out okay though.

High country

In 2013 Penny and I travelled the Great Alpine road and stopped here at Danny's lookout.

Angry birds

Back in 2015 and I watched an angry bird (and 50 -60 other hot air balloons) take off from the parliamentary lawns in Canberra.  For the record Canberra like all political cities is full of hot air and angry birds... :)

Pencil

For those that are interested yesterdays image was a behind the scenes of an image that Penny was creating for the scavenger hunt and the word pencil.  Penny was after a schoolroom with the teacher reading a story to her pupils.  For those in Oz you will recognise Mr Squiggle.

Capital

Six years ago today we visited Canberra.  I was up early to watch the balloon festival.  It didn't happen this day but I got this great image of old and new parliament house across the waters of lake Burley Griffin

Paying attention

Back in 2019 all the children were paying attention to the teacher while she read a story

Making do

This day last year was the first day of panic buying in our supermarkets.  Some of us reverted to the old school ways.  It is a good use of old newspaper :)

The golden shrine

A bonus on this day...  Taken last year in the early morning rain.  I captured this image of  Melbourne's shrine of remembrance.  I can say that I have never before seen it looking like this.

Trapped

Back in 2016 I created this image for the theme of trapped in the #SelfieSunday project.

Kitchen

Today our remodelled kitchen is operational.  Some of you helped us make the choice for what image to choose for the splashback.  We went with dawn at Port Fairy

Curl

Lots of curls. Actress Akosia Sabet on the set of the psychological thriller "Insomnia City" https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7502582/.  I get a mention in the cast list as stills photographer :)

Buttons

Two years ago I was focussed on buttons
