Hard rubbish

A couple of days ago I posted a picture of Winston the rescue bear.  This is exactly how I found him.  The house in the background has since been demolished and replaced with a modern monstrosity.

Heard of Elephants

This image of Wem was used as a publicity shot for the play "A heard of Elephants" by Katherine Phelps.  the play was on at the Melbourne Fringe festival in 2016. Here is a review https://theatrepress.com.au/2016/09/19/melbourne-fringe-2016-heard-of-elephants/

On this day - 30th of November

in 2016 I was at Frankston beach taking photos before going to work.  Judging by the gloves it was unusually cold for the day before summer.

Magnificent view

The Grampians in western Victoria are a great place to visit.  This image was taken from the Boroka lookout and shows Halls gap with lake Bellfield in the background.  Highly recommended for a visit.  My favourite here is the Halls gap zoo.

in 2013 it was all about light, shadows and reflections as this was not long after I got my first DSLR a Nikon D3200.  That camera and I had a lot of great times together :)

Word of the day - Feather

One single feather

On this day - 28th of November

I didn't have anything that I liked in my archives so I created a shot that I have been meaning to take for some time.  This is Winston the rescue bear.  Rescued from the hard rubbish of a neighbour.  Everyday when I go to our fridge he sits in the chair looking at me accusingly.  Today he shines :)

Looks like it needs to be repainted. :)  This was in the South Australian town of Burra, famous for the house on the cover of Midnight oils Diesel and dust album

On this day 27th of November

in 2016 I was taking pictures of a globe to use as the base image for a snow globe that I was creating to use for the word Winter in scavenger hunt 19.  Of course coming into summer we get to try to create a winter photo.  That is where you need to be creative.  This image is a composite created in photo shop from two photos of mine the base image along with a photo that I took of a friend of mine.  For completeness I have included the images used to create the composite.  The challenge was to retain the globe along with reflections (although I had to morph them to remove the reflection of a large polka dot umbrella) and still be able to identify the image inside.  I also added additional snow falling in the same direction that it was at the time the image was taken.  For those that may be interested in participating in the scavenger hunt round 27 is taking participants from the weekend of the 7th of December and you can join up here https://scavengerhunt.photography/subscribe/. Subscribe to the mailing list and you will get an email with the details when it is time.  The scavenger hunt is not about taking the best photos or being the best at editing in Photoshop.  It is about challenging yourself to do the best that you can, getting out taking photos and most of all having fun.

The road trip

Word of the day bonus edition

This was taken as part of a series of photos taken at two minute intervals while on a trip to Mildura.  I had the camera on the back seat of the car on a tripod.  The camera has a built in itervalometer.  It is not quite what I envisaged when I had the idea.  It would probably work better in a convertible with the roof down and the camera a little bit higher

Word of the day - Automobiles

I think today's theme was inspired by a new car.  Mine is not so new...  Pictured is a three wheeled Reliant Robin, favoured by Mr Bean.  This one was at my local shopping centre.

In 2015 I got my inner rock start on.  However the perception from part of me was that I did not want to see, hear or speak of my performance.  Lucky Patch was there to protect me

Word of the day - Trains

Suburban Melbourne train arriving at the old Heatherdale station at dawn.  This is a composite image of the train arriving.  I had the camera on a tripod.  Took the main image for a background and as the train arrived I took many images and have superimposed only the highlights to get this resultant image.

Weeds...  In 2013 I was fascinated by weeds.  In this case a dandelion.  I was trying to catch rainbows amongst the seeds.

12PAof2019 - November stacked

Stacked

For the November theme of stacked I had several ideas and I have settled on this image which was a found image rather than planned.  This was found by the side of the cycle track and I am not even sure what it is or was meant to be.

On this day - 24th of November

In 2016 we were catching the sun somewhere near Mildura.  This is Penny as lady liberty...

Oblivious

Oblivious to what is going on around her. This girl does what so many of us do these days.

On this day - 23rd of November

In 2010 Penny and I went on a trip circumnavigating the state of Victoria and we visited the big strawberry at Koonoomoo near Cobram on the Murray river.  Here is Penny availing herself of a photo opportunity :)

They can be found here https://www.thebigstrawberry.com.au/

Word of the day - Hats

WODT - Hats

For this word I have chosen an image that I created for the word Plumber in scavenger hunt 16.  While researching the word I discovered that in the US it has a meaning of spy.  This dates back to Watergate where the people that broke into the Watergate hotel were referred to as plumbers.  The newspaper in this image was completely created in Photoshop and I include the original unedited image for comparison.  It is very difficult to make text look accurate on a fluid surface and also it could not simply be black or sharp as that is not how newsprint appears in a photograph.  I had a lot of fun creating this one.

in 2018 I was watching a storm approach from the 6th floor at work in South Melbourne.  Note: edited with the "Mood enhancer" look of Luminar 4 #madewithluminar and cropped to 16 by 9 to remove a lot of buildings in the foreground.

The portal between worlds.  This is a pedestrian/cycle tunnel under Melbourne's Eastlink freeway.  It very much reminds me of the multiverse portal in "Man in the high castle"

Yesterday the weather was perfect so I decided to ride my bike to the beach.  It is around 40 kilometres from home, but well worth the effort.

20th of November

in 2016 Penny and I went to Ballarat looking for knots...  We achieved the goal and also visited the fine arts museum.  If you haven't been it is well worth the visit.  Every time I visit I take a picture of this scene.  I just love the light, shadows, colours and simplicity.

Truth in photography

This morning truth in photography died a little with the release of Luminar 4 by Skylum.  As evidence I present two images.  The first is the original unedited photo of Frankston pier with an angry sky.  And the second has been edited with Luminar 4 and it's AI Sky Replacement filter.  All of this with one click of a button.  Amazing.

Word of the day - Bags... (Bonus edition)

I really like this side portrait taken at Flinders Street station here in Melbourne.  If you say to meet under the clocks any Melburnian will know where you mean. This girl was waiting for a friend under the clocks.  As a double bonus, I have included a second image of when they found each other.

18th of November

In 2013 I went to Jells park and took some photos...  None of the are of any consequence.  It does happen sometimes.  So instead of a photo taken on that day I present an image when I did get all the ducks in a row.

I must go out today and take some photos so that I have something for next year :)
