Stacked

This months challenge of Cats Eye view has seen some excellent points of view.  I however have moved on to next months Stacked challenge.  I have two awesome ideas.  I need a zen master for one and the other I simply need to go somewhere...  :)

Good luck Stacked is due between the 24th and 30th of November

See what I did with the picture :)

Word of the day - Graveyard (Bonus edition)

Cinematic.  This was taken while I was on set taking still photos for the Movie "A beautiful request" by Rob Chuter.  It has a general release slated for next year

The image is within St Kilda cemetery

Word of the day - Graveyard

Armistice day

Today's word of the day graveyard reminded me of this image that I took on a trip around Tasmania last year.  The grave {pictured) of the two Thomas Booth's was located at Ross cemetery not far from the Ross Female factory.

Sadly for Thomas Booth jnr he died on Armistice day 1918.  The very last day of The great war as it was known then.  He was 18 years old...  Lest we forget

Being with trees

I couldn't decide...  Colour or black and white.  Which do you prefer?

Strangers

While travelling I like to keep a lookout for people doing interesting things.  This was taken near the entrance to the Botanical Gardens in Sydney.  Penny and I were heading back to our hotel after a big day and we saw these two standing on a column....

This was in 2016 and I was just starting my Strangers with heart project and I asked them if they would like to take part.  They happily obliged.  They did give me an email address but it was not valid so I have no idea who they are.

The idea of Strangers with heart was to photograph complete strangers holding a big red heart that I supplied.  For the project I took around 20 photos and only had 2 people that I approached declined.  I found it a great way to get over wariness of approaching strangers in the street.

Favourite location

I have been to Sydney many times over the years and each time I visit I am drawn to this location in the rocks.  I never get the same picture twice and the one included here is my favourite taken at this location.  The view is looking north along Cumberland street towards the harbour bridge.  The hotel (Glenmore) on the right is a great place to have a beer and wind away the day with friends.  To the left is the start of the footpath that takes you across the harbour bridge.  This image evokes memories of good times with great friends.  If you find yourself in Sydney go there and take a picture.  I would love to see your take on this scene.

Jells park sunrise

Sunrise over Jells park lake.  Just a hint of fog over the water...  PERFECT!

Word of the day - cantankerous

I think someone is unhappy with Ben...

Also have spelling issues. :)

Pacer

This is a Pacer dinghy taken at Parkdale beach on a warm summers day

The Pacer used to be known as a Puffin but after the hull size was increased to make it more of a family sized dinghy the name was changed.   Looks like a lot of fun.  More information at the link below

Alone on 13th beach

Alone on 13th beach in high key.  This was taken on the 1st of February 2015 when I went down to Geelong to watch the Cadel Evans road race.  The race was excellent.  At the time I missed this image and while looking for another image this morning I stumbled on to it and saw something that I hadn't noticed before.  It says something for holding on to old images...  Even ones that you think don't work at the time.

IP address black hole on a unifi USG router

IP address black hole on a unifi USG router

Recently I have had someone trying to brute force a login onto my NAS box here and they were constantly using the same IP address.  So I decided to research how to stop a specific IP address from connecting to my network from the internet.  I have a USG Pro4 router which is an excellent device if you are prepared to put in the time to learn the intricacies of how it works.

To black hole an address

Navigate to Settings/Routing & Firewall and click on create a new rule

Use the settings below.  Note that you will need to "CREATE IPV4 ADDRESS GROUP".  I called mine "Black hole" to make it obvious what it is for.

Once this is done click Save.  What this does is drop all incoming packets from any IP address defined in the "Black hole" group.

To black hole an IP address simply navigate to Settings/Routing & Firewall/Groups and select Edit

Add the IP address and click Save.  That IP address will no longer be able to connect to your network. my list is below

Scavenger hunt 26

Hunt 26

The images below are what I submitted for the last scavenger hunt run at this url https://scavengerhunt.photography  This hunt is explained there.  For this hunt they had a theme of "Welcome to Oz" and all of the words related to the wizard of Oz movie.  The images displayed are my interpretations of these words. Left to right, courage, curtain, road, coward, selective colour, sepia, monkey and rainbow.  There are two other words (home and wizard) that I did not submit an image for.  This is the first time that I have not completed the task.

To make things a little difficult I had a mini sub theme where all images needed to contain the colour green.  This rather complicated my sepia image.  I got around this by using the emerald station sign in my image.  Emerald is green isn't it?

I am very happy with the images that I produced for this round with courage receiving a third place and an honourable mention from the judging panel https://scavengerhunt.photography/round-26-winners-coward/ and coward received a total of three honourable mentions from the Judges https://scavengerhunt.photography/round-26-winners-coward/.
